    Learn how to describe, recommend, and appreciate wines from France’s major wine regions, while mastering the art of wine tasting and its associated vocabulary. From Alsace to Corsica, gain in-depth knowledge of terroirs and emblematic grape varieties that shape France’s wine heritage, through a recognised certification.

    By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

    • Describe a French wine at every stage of tasting,following a professional tasting protocol to identify its style—and in some cases its wine region and grape variety(ies)—while distinguishing the impact of natural factors and winemaking techniques on the wine’s profile. 
    • Write professional tasting sheets or commercial wine descriptions using accurate, appropriate tasting vocabulary. 
    • Recommend a French wine to a client by clearly explaining its sensory characteristics, terroir, grape variety, regional identity, and stylistic traits. This allowsparticipants to guide clients effectively based on their preferences, expectations, and food-and-wine-pairing considerations.

    “Communicating About Wine in English” is an online training programme designed to equip participants withthe essential skills to communicate confidently and professionally about wine in English.

    Learning objectives

    By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

    • Welcome English-speaking visitors to a winery or tasting room, presenting the wine region and the estate to showcase heritage, quality, and the distinctive characteristics of the wines offered.
    • Present a wine range in English and lead tastings adapted to all audiences, using specific vocabulary to describe style, sensory characteristics, and quality, while advising clients according to their needs and expectations.
    • Explain the wine production process in English, from viticulture through winemaking and ageing, integrating notions of terroir, climate, and grape variety, to provide clear and professional explanations to an English-speaking audience.
    • Write communication and promotional materials in English
      (technical sheets, flyers, social media posts, press releases, visitor brochures…), to promote a wine offering to an international clientele.

    Understand and interact in English during professional wine-related exchanges
    (tastings, production, food and wine pairings, etc.), developing fluent, precise, and professional dialogue in oenotourism or commercial contexts.
